CureDM Inc.

About

|
A biopharmaceutical company established to develop new therapies for diabetes that may prevent, ameliorate or reverse the condition and allow for the discontinuation of insulin.
Loraine v. Upham, CEO of CureDM, has previously presented the company to our group on February 13, 2006. She will now address us again focusing on progress made during this last year.
The research team at CureDM has discovered a novel human peptide and receptor associated with islet regeneration. Islets are structures within the pancreas that contain the critical insulin-producing cells, which sustain life. Without a sufficient number of islets, insulin injections are required because the lack of insulin results in high blood glucose levels, which can acutely cause death when glucose is extremely high or low. Mild sustained elevations of glucose over a period of years result in accelerated vascular disease throughout the body. Despite many new therapies for diabetes, it remains the leading cause of blindness, amputations and kidney failure requiring dialysis in the US, and the rates of these complications are growing.
Core Technology: CureDM's flagship therapeutic candidate is a distinct human peptide (chain of amino acid molecules) that is involved in the differentiation of human pancreatic progenitor cells into insulin-producing islet structures. This regeneration process normally takes place in healthy humans without diabetes at a slow rate everyday to replace the small percentage of insulin-producing cells that die naturally each day. CureDM's Human proIslet Peptide (HIP) stimulates the natural regeneration process within the pancreas.
Updated Company presentations and discussions will take place from time to time. Objective is to demonstrate how these "Successful PCCI Graduates" have reached a new place in their evolution. They may still benefit from the kind of help only the PCCI format can provide. For February however we will again program a New Company.
