Nanomed Devices, Inc. (Nanomed), founded in 2005, incorporated in Delaware, and based in Albany, NY, is a clinical-stage drug repositioning company focusing on developing and commercializing advanced drug delivery technology.
Nanomed's nanotechnology based intradermal delivery device is designed to safely and more effectively deliver drugs, including protein drugs that, until now, must be delivered by needle injection. It has a fully owned subsidiary in China where Nanomed has established high-quality, low-cost product development and manufacturing capability.
Nanomed successfully conducted a full scale human clinical trial for validating the clinical utilities of its proprietary Functional MicroArray (FMA ) drug delivery device, leading to SFDA (Chinese equivalent of FDA) approval of the product. The company successfully completed the Series A institutional funding to support its rapid growth.
Nanomed's patents, which extend protection of repositioned drugs through 2023 and beyond, presents significant developmental barriers to competitors who generally are left to modified transdermal systems. The result is often a less efficient, less desirable transdermal patch product. Nanomed's proprietary product FMA adds significant value to generic companies who seek product differentiation to capture value.
Nanomed's business strategy is to partner with companies and planning to first launch its product in emerging markets such as China. This approach is clearly less expensive, and offers lower risk and the potential for high return.
