Sword Diagnostics
Life sciences company

About

|
Sword Diagnostics is a life sciences company committed to improving healthcare outcomes through the use of innovative detection technology for clinical diagnostics and life science research. Sword's scientific team, comprised of former Abbott Laboratories scientists, invented the technology, which is at the foundation of its High Sensitivity Detection Kit and has developed a compelling data set demonstrating sensitivity improvements of 2X - 10X and larger in tests for markers in blood used to diagnose disease and perform medical research. With $7M invested, its core patent issued in October 2009 and other patents pending, Sword has developed a robust product and is preparing for the joint launch of its detection kits with its first strategic partner, a large and highly respected instrumentation company, to deliver a complete detection system in the market in the fourth quarter of 2010.

3 Major Issues

|
- How do we best structure our on-going relationship with the Global Gorilla so that it does not limit us from other potential exits?
- What type of decision-making should we go through to either create our own point-of-presence sales and distribution in a particular country, or work with a distributor?
- For our markets, how should we position our new technology product offering: as a) "standard evolution" of the existing approach (burying our technology so it's less of a leap for people to try or as b) a "technology revolution" that explains how we do it but may limit us with conservative adopters of new technology?
