Cerora Inc.

A diagnostics and healthcare information technology company

Presenter: Adam Simon PhD, co-founder and CEO of Cerora

Monday, December 10, 2012

Embassy Suites, Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania (directions)

Cerora is a start-up diagnostics and healthcare information technology company focused on concussion and Alzheimer’s disease. Both of these are billion dollar a year markets and represent enormous unmet medical need. To date, there is no portable, objective, accurate and affordable diagnostic tool to assess brain function and to assist in patient decision making for neurologic and neuropsychiatric diseases. Cerora is filling this gap by combining (i) advances in wireless dry contact EEG sensor technology with (ii) proprietary activated data acquisition paradigms via (iii) an innovativeNeuro Diagnostics as a Service IT infrastructure.

Cerora will sell non-invasive electronic neuro diagnostic medical devices to be used in combination with apps running on mobile devices. The Company’s products and services will be sold as “Neuro Diagnostics as a Service” brain health information to aid in the diagnosis and management of concussion (mTBI) and Alzheimer’s disease / Mild Cognitive Impairment. Point of care collected data will be centrally read and automatically analyzed, creating PDF data reports for electronic distribution to health care practitioners after physician interpretation. The company will charge a per scan fee to analyze and produce an interpretable report for a physician. For the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, Cerora is offering CNS compound monitoring services for target engagement, dose selection, translational, screening, and safety biomarkers towards companion diagnostics.

Cerora is initiating an external capital financing to accelerate re-engineering of its clinical prototype device to meet the medical device regulations including ISO 13485. It presently intends to pursue a CE mark and commercialize first in the EU while simultaneously filing a 510(k) pre-market notification to the FDA.

3 Major Issues

  1. Assuming Cerora's first medical device gets a CE mark, from a reimbursement perspective, what should be the top three EU countries to launch into Europe, in what order, and why?
  2. How best to gain market visibility and market acceptance beyond standard market techniques (e.g. peer-reviewed scientific papers, trade shows, etc.) but please include your perspective on social media?
  3. If you were an investor, did the presentation this evening capture your interest enough for you to want to learn more? If so, why? If not, why not?
