About

|
The goal of AROXEL is to design and market AroxMate, a small plastic device containing a replaceable solid support impregnated with one or a mix of organic-grade essential oils and a design to control the release of the aroma to relieve the symptoms of nausea.
AroxMate will be used in medical facilities as the aromatherapy carrier in post-operative and chemotherapy patients, either alone or as a safe adjuvant treatment with routine antiemetic drugs thus reducing the need for expensive drugs and avoiding side effects of medications.
Despite numerous medications and treatment options, about a third of travelers, a quarter of post-operative patients, 30% of patients undergoing chemotherapy and more than half of pregnant women suffer from nausea. Current medications consist of oral, transdermal and intravenous antiemetic drugs (i.e. Compazine, Emend, Aloxi) and OTC products. These however have side effects, are in short supply and are often difficult to procure. A few natural remedies such as acupuncture, gums and bracelets are other options. Patients are increasingly seeking natural remedies with minimal side effects offering prolonged usage and no toxicity.
Aromatherapy, classified by the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses as a class IIIb, level B treatment, which states there is limited risk in its use and is not difficult to administer, may prove to be a virtually side-effect free option for treating nausea, Indeed, research has demonstrated that aromatherapy is effective in relieving nausea.

3 Major Issues

|
- How can we look for funding and investors and when is it appropriate to do so (Do we need investors?)
- What would be the best way to market this device? (Internet, magazines, TV, etc.?)
- How do we find, evaluate, and sign a contract with a company to manufacture our device for mass production.
