About

|
Each May PCCI takes on a critical issue facing emerging life science companies. This year we will look at crowdfunding and discuss how it applies to early stage life science companies and fundraising as we know it.
With so many questions swirling around the different types of crowdfunding, we'll take an educational approach, examine what's actually there and try to untangle myth from reality.
There are several types of crowdfunding newcos can choose from. Which one is right for which newco at which stage of the funding process? And how will choosing the right or wrong one influence follow-on funders and funding rounds? There are obvious timing and development considerations that will affect different technologies differently. Will the advent of crowdfunding speed up the investment process? Will it really bridge the yawning "valley of death"? Will it unlock doors that are currently closed or just make things even more chaotic? Will the Title II model directed at "accredited investors only" replace investment banking some day? These are just some of the questions we will discuss.
The panel is made up of notables and practitioners who will be called upon to deal with the pros and cons of crowdfunding in real life and let them discuss how all this is likely to apply to life science entrepreneurs and investors.
The program will begin with introductory remarks, followed by a lively panel discussion for the first hour. For the last 30 minutes we'll take questions from the audience.
