Josh Weinstein

A medical marketing executive with over thirty years of experience in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, healthcare high-technology and communications, Mr. Weinstein has built a reputation for devising market oriented communications strategies that extend beyond media placements to harness the change-making public events and trusted collaborations that build product, company and issue advocacy.

 

 

In creating global programs, Mr. Weinstein draws upon his leadership experience as a senior executive at several global medical communications and medical research/manufacturing enterprises. Most recently he served as founding president of Torre Lazur Public Relations and Torre Lazur / McCann's Global Advocacy Development Group and, prior to that was executive vice president and managing director in Burson-Marsteller's Washington, D.C. and New York healthcare groups, At B-M he managed the award-winning National Public Education Campaign for Clinical Depression in collaboration with the National Mental Health Association.

 

Earlier he was senior vice president and director of Hill & Knowlton's New York Healthcare Marketing Group and served nine years as president of Josh Weinstein & Company, Inc., a strategic marketing and communications consultancy for biotechnology firms developing new global markets for protein therapies, diagnostic monoclonal antibodies, artificial skin and vascular implants.

 

Prior to that, Mr. Weinstein held top marketing positions at Sandoz (Novartis), Schering Laboratories, Schering International and E.R. Squibb and Sons, leaving his personal creative stamp upon several enduring brands, including Mellaril, Tavist, Intron A and Capoten.

 

Mr. Weinstein has served as moderator and docent at the Advocacy and Media courses of NMHCC's Managed Care University and is a contributing columnist for Pen Computing Magazine and the Annual Medical and Healthcare Marketplace Guide. Mr. Weinstein also is an editorial advisor to Pharmaceutical Executive magazine, where his executive effectiveness and technology column, Executive Edge is featured monthly.

 

A pioneering advocate for handheld computers in healthcare, Mr. Weinstein is a founding member of the PDA industry's first trade organization and is a sought after teacher, speaker, and author on the subject of the convergence of handheld, wireless and web technologies with healthcare businesses. As such, has served as strategic advisor to such prestigious high technology companies as Apple Computer, Sony Electronics and Symbol Technologies.

 

Mr. Weinstein is often called upon to consult on new technologies in the service of medicine, not only for manufacturers, but also for prestigious professional organizations such as the Massachusetts Medical Society and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. Frequently characterized as a 'natural teacher' adept at making complex science easy to comprehend, Mr. Weinstein's ardent personal support of web-based distance education was recently recognized by the State of New Jersey through his appointment to the board of directors of the Thomas A.
